Antique Ridgways Serving Pieces - Platters

Beautiful Ridgways Staffordshire earthenware china in the Oriental pattern. Blue and white in color, this pattern varies as to the intensity of the blue. These pieces are on the lighter side. The beehive mark, RidgwayS with the country of origin - England, date this set between 1891-1920.

Selling separately, I am offering a selection of platters to choose from.

The 'Oriental' pattern features a series of vignettes featuring palm tree filled oases, camels, shepherds, minarets and palaces interspersed with floral cartouches. Light gold trim accents the handles and rims. The pieces are gently serpentine figured.

Condition: Some age related issues are noted below, but overall these pieces are in good, clean condition.

Platter 1 - Very minor, if any crazing; free from stains, no cracks or hairlines. There is a 1/4" rim chip on the reverse side at about 3 o'clock, mostly invisible from the front. The gold rims have a fair amount of wear. As noted above, nice and fresh looking overall.

Platter 2 - Some crazing along the top and bottom rims of the plate, seen from the backside. There is also a glaze scratch on the back of the platter - this is not a glaze fracture. The gold rims have a fair amount of wear. As noted above, nice and fresh looking overall.

Platter 3 - No crazing, but there is a 1/2" bruise on the back rim. There are also two very small, old chips on the back rim <1/16". The gold rims have a fair amount of wear. As noted above, nice and fresh looking overall.

This extensive dinnerware service was found packed away and unwrapped for the first time in newspaper from 1960. I soaked and washed the large set but I will tell you that a good scrubbing with a soft bristle brush to get into the nooks and crannies, would further enhance this lovely set.
