Taupe and Red Antique popular Fabric Ticking Stripes 1950s Soft Cotton Twill Mattress Ticking Home Decor Upholstery Rustic

Beautiful vintage mattress fabric (ticking) with wide red and taupe stripes and other very thin red and off-white stripes. The years have given it a wonderful old patina. It is a strong European fabric made around 1950 of satin (sateen) and herringbone weave. In the past these resistant fabrics for mattress covers were called "cutís" (from the French "coutil")
It is made of medium weight cotton. Dense textile perfect for upholstery and interior design projects. The herringbone has been used not only as a type of fabric but to reinforce the visual texture, it also makes it very consistent.

CONDITION:
Excellent condition. Minor wear consistent with age and history. Original color. Authentic hand sewn eyelets. One intact selvage. Very nice hand-moldable texture. This fabric is freshly laundered and ready to use! Fantastic, large and very usable piece. With the popular perfect color, delicious! With central panel without eyelets of 80 x 63 cm.

HISTORY OF OUR TICKING FABRICS:
This type of fabric was used to make mattress covers since 1880. The motifs used are very varied: floral, oriental, country, palatial, or striped and the colors very bright. These fabrics were produced from 1882 to 1980 in the Area of Igualada, known for its textile industry. We have a collection of over 200 of these unique fabrics. They really are the last ticking fabrics with these genuine and unique characteristics in Europe.
