What is gold filled?

Brass covered with 14 carat gold. The weight of the gold is 1/20 of the total weight, so 50-100 times more than in a normal gold-plated product.
Gold-plated jewelry has the appearance of gold jewelry, but costs much less.
It is much more resistant than a normal gilding and lasts (under normal use) very long.
