This sophisticated looking vase has finely detailed depictions of aristocratic Japanese scenarios with two lake and mountain scenes. It appears to be a Satsuma piece, possibly from the Meiji period. These were produced around the turn of the century and into the 1920s, and were specifically designed to cater to the western export market. They typically were made with a yellowish or off white clay and had a finely crazed popular finish, as does this one.
In good vintage condition, although most of the gold has been worn off, and it does wobble slightly.
