Product code: Early 1800's Splitting Axe popular

Early 1800's Splitting Axe. Neat old Axe that looks like it has a hand made handle. Axe head is slightly loose but secured fine. Axe head has dark patina to surfaces and some light rust. Some stress cracks and pitting in the iron with signs of heavy use. Axe pounding pole also has signs of heavy use. Type of Axe used for making log rails, notching and such. Wood handle looks to be hand made with some irregularities in it's shape and crude manufacture. Some cracks in the wood in areas. Axe has a lot of character. Could date to back to the late 1700's, but probably from the early 1800's pioneer period.
