1950s Vintage “Young Modes” popular White Silk Chiffon Blouson Dress with Pencil Skirt and Color Block Detail
This beautiful crisp white and colorblock Mondrian-inspired dress is an absolute stunner. The bodice features a bold color block detail at the right side in black, yellow, and red. The blouson chiffon overlay is a perfect contrast in silhouette to the sleek crepe pencil skirt. The dropped waist has a ribbon detail with a flat, pre-tied bow at the back that has a snap to hold it in place over the zipper. The sleeveless boatneck is flattering and easy to wear. The skirt includes a 7” long kick pleat at the back for ease of movement.
There are two tiny pinholes in the white chiffon overlay on top of the red portion, 1 small hole on top of the black portion, as well as a slight rip to the overlay under the left arm at the back. There is a slightly worn spot to the chiffon where the weave has shifted at the top of the right sleeve. The piece has been priced with these flaws in mind
This popular was purchased and worn by the original owner for her honeymoon in 1956.
