Stained Glass Art Panel, Unusual Agate Glass, Traditional Leaded Stained Glass, Handcrafted Stained popular Glass Window.

This contemporary stained glass panel is made up of the most beautiful vibrant cobalt blues, yellows and greens with some water glass incorporating heather hues. In this panel I have inserted a slice of agate which holds the central focal point and adds quite a different dimension to this one off piece. The design inspiration came from the incredible sunrises seen on the east coast of Scotland.

I use the traditional and ancient technique of leading glass which entails soldering lead together where the glass has been slotted into the lead channel, it is then puttied to ensure strength and to make it watertight. The glass itself is of varying types from wispy opaque, to transluscent, to mouthblown with wonderful natural inclusions, making each piece unique.

Depending on light conditions, stained glass panels are ever evolving in the effects they throw out in the space they inhabit, the jewel-like colours can throw a room into the most beautiful glistening arena! At night, the effects are seen from the outside as light is refracted from the inside, making it a spectacle for people looking in.
