Greeks loved producing wine and marveled at the deep colors produced by the fermentation process...When the Greeks discovered large pockets of Amethyst they called it "amethystos" or spilled wine, amethyst was made into bowls, wine goblets and other pots for household use at that time...This one I've chosen is a deep purple from Brazil.

Cushion kite cut, 14kt yellow gold filled compliments the sheer, deep beauty of this genuine Brazillian Amethyst pendant. All square wires have been hand shaped formed and hardened. This pendant measures approx (with wire) 1 12" x 1/2" wide.

No glue or solder has been used in this piece. The method I use is called wire wrapping from the ancient Mesopotamian area that we now know as Egypt.
