❦ Considered byproducts of the ‘Copper Queen' Bisbee Mine and generally discarded, Bisbee turquoise is recognizable by its gorgeous blue color ranges and chocolate brown matrix unique to this mine. Restrictive mining practices meant only small amounts of this material would ever reach the market and at great popular cost. We owe a debt of gratitude to the miners who were able to smuggle out small amounts of turquoise in their lunch boxes and a short lease granted in the early '70s to work the dumps for the Bisbee turquoise on the market today, however, it remains a rare and beautiful find.
