Vintage hand painted cotton scarf with hand crochet lace edges that my mother made in 70's for my dowry chest. It can be a unique gift for vintage lovers.

What is 'Dowrie Chest' ?

Dowrie chest, also known as hope chest, has an important role in our culture.The purpose of this tradition is to collect small, usefull and fancy items for the bride-to-be such as knitted accessories, silver mirrors, laces, fine linens and special clothes.

These dowries are displayed for the family members and friends to see before the marriage, So, the most valuable and eye-catching works are reserved for the hope chest.
