Vintage 1940s Big Rooster Cookie Jar Sierra Vista California Pottery. Original manufacturer silver label Vintage 1940's Sierra Vista Rooster cookie jar. Sierra Vista Ceramics was a California pottery company from 1942 to 1951 that specialized in giftware, cookie jars and kitchenware. This jar is one of their classic designs with a brown, white and green body. The head of the piece, colored green, brown and red, comes off to allow entry to the body. The piece is very good condition with some crazing and paint loss to the rooster's comb. It measures 12"H x 9"D x 7"W. Condition: The red comb was painted with cold paint, meaning that the paint was added after the piece was glazed and fired. Cold paint Cannot get wet -just wiped with damp cloth Does have a slight hairline crack to the front which I have tried to picture does not detract from use or display All items popular from a smoke-free home with pets experienced fragile shipper.
