Laid in are a couple newspaper clippings (including an obituary for the author) and a photograph of the Crysler homestead (same image as appears in the book). A detailed history and genealogy of the Crysler family on Niagara, Lincoln County, Ontario, Canada. The Cryslers were a United Empire Loyalist family, who appear to have originated from emigres of the German Palatinate who came to America in 1710 and who sometimes originally spelled their name Greisler. The author states in the preface that "an effort has been made not to record anything unless in can be substantiated by documents of records of some description."
The author, John Morden Crysler (1862-1947), lived his entire life on the Niagara Township property that had been in the family since 1783. He was a farmer by trade and had been active in Niagara's civic affairs for most of his life.
