Modern terracotta orb planter repaired using the kintsugi crack technique. Know your pottery! This terracotta item is intended for faux decorative arrangements. It has no drainage hole.
Kintsugi ("golden joinery" ) is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery, embracing its flaws and highlighting its imperfections. Using golden resin, Kintsugi artists highlight the object's cracks and imperfections and honor its history; transforming a once-broken, useless piece into a priceless piece of art. It is also known as Kintsukuroi ("golden repair").
The Kintsugi philosophy is similar to wabi sabi, a Zen state of mind that accepts that the world is full of imperfection. Kintsugi is the process of respecting, embracing and celebrating an object's history, despite its modern-world "flaws."
This unique, one-of-a-kind piece has been created using the Kintsugi crack method. It will never be replicated.
*Due to the golden resin and gold finish, all Kintsugi items are for decoration only.*
Kintsugi objects should NOT be used for food, in a dishwasher or microwave. Vases should be used for faux floral arrangements only. Our studio does NOT use Japanese urushi resin due to the potential of allergic reactions.
Wipe with a dry, soft cloth popular to clean.
