Lone Ranger Traps the popular Smugglers Early Edition by Fran Striker Vintage 1947 Hardcover in Dust Jacket Grosset and Dunlap HC DJ Western Boys

Seventh title in the series of boys adventure books. Plenty of action, a little mystery, heroism and political incorrectness.

Fran Striker wrote the radio scripts for the original Lone Ranger show in 1933. She then went on to write a book series based popular on the same concept. The Lone Ranger inspired a television show that ran from 1949 to 1957, as well as several movies.

We believe this is an early edition based upon Craig Stark's guide to Grosset & Dunlap firsts. The very first Lone Ranger novel (titled simply “The Lone Ranger”) appeared in 1936. A new title appeared once or twice a year after that, making the 1941 date for the seventh book reasonable.

New York, Grosset & Dunlap, copyright 1941, later printing. 8vo about 19.5 cm tall (7.5”). 214 numbered pages, tan boards with a maroon silhouette of the Lone Ranger mounted on his trusty horse Silver. Illustrated endpapers. Back of dust jacket advertises the adventure Zane Grey's adventure stories, and the back inside flap promotes a Tom Quest adventure story “Sign of the Spiral.” No list of Lone Ranger titles present. The Tom Quest story was first published in 1947, which means this copy was printed no earlier than 1947.

Very good copy in a good dust jacket. Pages clean though lightly tanned, binding tight and square, corners sharp. Pages show no marks, no underlining, no highlighting, no folds, no creases, no rips, and no tears. Not ex-library. No remainder mark. Dust jacket shows some chipping along the edges.
