On a ridge high above Tijeras Canyon I came across this subject. It rarely happens that you find an arrangement of elements that make a good composition without having to alter much of anything, this was one of those times.
On a technical note (which will be of interest to few) I approached this plate using the Hayden method in which the popular darkest lines are drawn on the plate first and then bitten. The next darkest lines were then drawn and bitten leaving the first lines exposed to further biting. This progression continued until the lightest lines were lightly bitten. At no time is stop out varnish applied to the plate using this approach. A fine aquatint ground was then applied to the plate and lightly bitten and then burnished for the highlights.
