popular Vintage Ceramic Marie Antoinette and Joseph II by Josef Original in Arcadia, CA. It is rare to find both Marie and Joseph together as a set which was intended by Muriel Joseph George. I got all my Josef Originals from a friend that was her niece. She was given many figurines and passed on to me. This set was triple fired in the kiln for strength and made in California. The easy way to tell is how old my friend was but also the figurines have black eyes instead of the brown eyes that were made in Japan. Marie and Joseph from the California series and they are brother and sister with their father being Austrian Emperor Francis I and Empress Theresa. They are almost 80 years old and still hold their vibrant colors and gold gilt.

They are 5 1/2” tall and are dressed in period baroque clothing.
CONDITION: They are in very good condition and especially for having lived their lives n earthquake prone California. Marie has crazing, no cracks, and their are two small areas where the lace has fallen off and is the most delicate part. It's hard to see I when being displayed. Joseph II is in very good vintage condition and has crazing, no cracks, has a small chip on the top of his hat, and has some his lace missing as well. The paint and gold gilt is in very good to excellent condition. Love the long black eyelashes on both. Please see pictures.
