Things to keep in mind when selecting a photograph to use for your portrait include:

- Natural Lighting. Try to avoid photos at night, bright camera flash, harsh shadows, red eye, dark shadows hiding features, and direct sunlight.

- Focus on the face and shoulders instead of the entire body make more successful portraits in this style.

- High resolution images provide more details to paint, and make for better paintings.

- Feel free to send more than one photograph if you are unsure which would work best.
