This botanical print is a beautiful example of a Victorian chromolithograph. The print is in excellent condition and it is very nicely matted and framed. The print is a from a book entitled Flowering Plants, Grasses, Sedges, and Ferns of Great Britain, by Anne Pratt. It was published in London in 1891. popular The print shows leaves and fruit from five trees (Sallow Thorn, Sweet Gale, Alder, Birch, and Dwarf B). The chromolithography process reached its pinnacle towards the end of the 1800's . Color images were printed using multiple stones, each printing a different color in an operation calling for precise alignment. When done well, as with this print, it produces beautiful colors. The print was produced by W. Dickes & Adel, a very reputable London engraver and lithographer
