1874 Antique Ledger and popular Scrapbook, Family Expenses and General Store Ledger, Nineteenth Century Ledger
I think old ledgers are fascinating. This one appears to be from 1874, and the ledger is a combination of family expenses, general store ledger, and calculation pad. I could not find an indication of location. The outside covers show heavy wear, especially on the corners and the spine where one would expect the most wear and tear. The binding is secure and most of the pages are intact, a few are torn, and a few have been cut out, with wear and fading and foxing consistent with its age, including some buckling to the hard covers. Some small parts of pages have been cut out (or torn out), there is foxing and some staining on many of the pages. While the writing was done in pencil, the print is mostly legible, and the writing is consistent so it appears to me to have been in the possession and used by the same person. The ledger measures about 10 1/4" by 7 7/8" by 1" and it is in fair popular condition.
