This listing features a collectible Vintage Decorated and Hand Colored by Delano Studios of Setauket, Long Island, New York horse tray illustrating an unsigned depiction of the Sam Savitt drawing Trotting.
The original drawing was by Sam Savitt for Delano Studios. The background of the tray is a creamy white with shades of black and brown. The massive horse barreling down the track with his rider in full gear has the whip held high. You can imagine the speed with which the horse is running as all of his legs are off the ground. You can almost anticipate the moment that the race is won with the crowds cheering for this beautiful animal. The tray is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. Please view the photos as they are an important part of the description. If you are a collector of horse memorabilia this would be an outstanding addition to your collection, or a great way to start one.
The outer rim of the tray/dish is trimmed in shiny gold. The background of the dish is a creamy white with the rider and his horse barreling down the track.
The tray/dish is in excellent condition for its age with no chips, crazing or cracks. There is no loss to the gold plating around the edges (please see the close up photos and judge for yourself the condition of the gold rim).

A little about Sam Savitt:
Sam Savitt (1917-2000) was an equine artist, author and illustrator. He was the official illustrator of the US Equestrian Team. Savitt is renowned for his passionate portrayal of horses. Sam Savitt lived in North Salem, NY on a farm he called One Horse Farm. One of the most beautiful quotes attributed to Sam Savitt is the following "The horse is beauty, strength, rhythm, and action. To really know and understand him, to capture his magnificence with pencil or brush, will to me be forever challenging." As an admirer and collector of his work, this quote will always come to mind when viewing how beautifully he portrayed his love of the horse.
