Stunning box with lid and crown! By Stewart McCullouch California Pottery & stamped on the bottom "Jane Ellis Design" it looks like a pillow to carry a crown on.

Research shows it may have been commissioned to celebrate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth, these trinket or candy boxes were designed. Shaped like a pillow with gold trim and design enhancing the beauty, there is a hand painted turquoise, gold and fur rimmed crown on the top of the lid.
Included in this estate purchase were 2 matching personal ashtrays. leading me to believe it may have been a smoke set however, the lid does not completely close with the two matching ashtrays inside but they are included in the purchase.

The box with lid measures 10"Long x 10"wide x 4" at the tip of the crown.
The personal ashtrays measure 4" long x 4" wide x 3/4" tall

The crowned box has no chips or cracks but some crazing due to age.
The 2 personal ashtrays do have a few small chips on the corners from use.
