Product code: 1- Gal Flame Stop Fire Retardant For Mexican Thatch Palm popular Grass

Treat before, during or after construction.

Be sure surface is clean and dry before treating.

DESCRIPTION: Flame Stop I-DS is a water-based, post-treatment, interior/ exterior fire retardant that penetrates the material and bonds with the cellular structure. The penetrant protects the substrate by developing a self-extinguishing reaction when the treated material comes in contact with an open flame. The highly concentrated Flame Stop I-DS is designed to penetrate dense materials and effectively fire retard open and closed cell structures. Flame Stop I-DS is non-toxic, non-combustible, non-carcinogenic, easy to apply, and contains no PDBE's.

BASIC USES: Flame Stop I-DS protects exterior and interior applications such as these: open and closed cell foams, foam rubber, nylon netting, thatching, bamboo, hay, straw, synthetic fabrics, furniture, hardwoods popular, decorative wood, plastics, and many other difficult-to-penetrate materials.

ADVANTAGES: Flame Stop I-DS is an FAA Certified, Class A, one-coat system with a Flame Spread of 10 on Reed Thatching. Since Flame Stop I-DS penetrates and forms a molecular bond with the substrate, the life of the flame retardation shall be indefinite for most interior applications. Treated fabrics may not be wet washed, but can be dry cleaned up to 15 times before reapplication is necessary. For exterior applications, it is recommended that the Flame Stop I-DS be reapplied after two years. Flame Stop I-DS will not alter the structural integrity of the substrate, is user friendly, dries clear, and can be easily applied by spraying, immersing, brushing, or rolling. Once cured for 48 hours on wood, the treated material may be painted with some latex-based paints, call for details.

LIMITATIONS: Storage Range: 45 – 110 degrees Fahrenheit (7 – 43 Celsius) Shelf Life: Three years, if kept within storage range. A compatibility test is strongly recommended. Moisture content of wood should be 5 – 15% before treatment. Do not wet wash. Do not dilute.

APPLICABLE STANDARDS: Flame Stop I-DS has been tested to the following standards: ASTM E-84, NFPA 255, UL 723: U.S. Testing Title 4 #LA 63494 (Ether Foam), Omega Point Laboratories #8924-89133 (Reed Thatching) FAR 25.853 (Polyurethane Foam), NFPA 701.

APPLICATION: Ensure that all materials are clean prior to application. Ensure that the ground is covered so no drips etc can penetrate ground surface. keep covered until dry. Apply Flame Stop I-DS at the rate of 100 square feet per gallon on thatch and wood by spraying, rolling, brushing, or immersing. If spraying onto a vertical surface where runoff could occur, multiple applications are allowed. When doing multiple coats, wait until the first coat has penetrated before beginning the next application. One coat will require a 48-hour curing period. For spray application, use a .005 - .010 tip size and a low pressure airless sprayer. **** After treatment a 48-hour conditioning period is necessary before testing **** TESTING: A small-scale test can be performed with the utilization of a sample of the treated material and a small flame (butane lighter or match). Hold a 4” x 12” piece of the treated material vertically and apply the flame to the lower portion for 10 seconds and then remove the ignition source. The flame must self-extinguish within two (2) seconds. This test is similar to the small-scale NFPA 701 field test. FLAMESPREAD 10 ON REED THATCHING May, 2010
