Product code: Fenton Carnival Glass Bowl popular Captive Rose
This is a lovely antique glass bowl by Fenton, produced in the early 20th century. The pattern is "Captive Rose," a pattern that mimics a popular doily with roses captured in the webbing. The glass is a lovely cobalt blue with gold and rose carnival finish. It was made with a 3 piece mold and one flaw I have found is a drip of glass at one of the mold lines. Other production marks are indentations to one side of the inner bowl, and on the outside surface at the foot, there are rough spots in the glass. This is likely from the bowl being clamped while it was still warm, as the ruffles and sawtooth edges were completed. This is truly an exceptional piece of older American glass and would be enjoyed by any carnival glass collector. It measures 9" across at the widest points, and about 2 3/8" in height.
