Lily's Picture Book Published in 1890's by McLoughlin Brothers NY Full Page Color Chromolithographs 4 Poems Antique popular Children's Book
A charming antique children's poetry book entitled, 'Lily's Picture Book', published by the McLoughlin Brothers, New York, in the 1890's. There are four full page richly colored chromolithographs which correspond to the four poems entitled, 'Sister Nell', 'Dollie', 'Golden Hair', and 'Dog Shaggie'. The cover is features a beautifully designed lithograph in colors of gold gilt, cranberry and green. The title of the book, which is in the center of the cover, is surrounded by ivy with a bouquet of flowers at the bottom. There are also four circles, each with images of a child with her doll, birds in a nest, a hunter, and a boy riding a large bird.
The back cover features an advertisement of children's books published by McLoughlin Bros.. There are blank pages between each poem and chromolithograph. The paper bound book is in overall good condition, although the spine is covered with a green ribbon which has been sewn into the book for stability, and some minor wear. The book measures; 7 1/2" x 10 popular 3/4".
This beautiful antique children's book would be a welcome edition to an antique children's book collection.
