French vintage pewter statue of Napoleon on horseback, signed.

This s a handsome statue of Napoleon the great military leader on horseback. The statue has some good detail of Napoleon mounted on horseback in full military dress. Napoleon on horseback is very much a repeated theme, but in real life he very rarely rode a horse because he suffered from haemorrhoids.

It is even suggested by various authorities that world history popular could have been changed by this little, but very uncomfortable problem. Napoleon's inability to mount a horse during the battle of Waterloo, and this may have been decisive on its outcome...if Napoleon could have seen the battlefield for himself he may have taken different key decision. Ultimately, France lost.

It is signed and stamped on the underside of the base but it is difficult to make out. There are some initials, France and what appears to be a serial number.

The statue is in good vintage condition. There are a few scratches here and there but nothing to detract from its lovely charm.

A lovely vintage piece and a great addition to any collection.
