This is a beautiful hand woven scarf woven from my hand spun art yarns. It is a plain weave structure done on a rigid heddle loom. Most of the yarns used in this scarf were hand spun by me using merino wool, mohair locks, novelty fibers and bling. The spinning techniques I used produced "art yarns" that vary in size (thick to thin), textures (incorporating various fibers, including novelty fibers, into one yarn), and colorful rovings. The wool rovings that I used to spin the yarn were hand dyed by me using commercial quality acid dyes. The result is a unique scarf with many textures and colors. It is a weft based weave structure which means that the warp yarns are generally smaller than the weft yarns, allowing the weft yarns to create the pattern. My hand woven art yarn scarves and shawls are somewhat tightly woven to create sturdy, wearable fabrics.
The scarf measures 72" long (not including the end fringes) and 84" long including the fringe. It is 9" wide. It is a heavy scarf, but soft to the touch and can be worn against the skin. It could also be used as a table runner or dresser scarf. However you choose to wear, this unique, one of a kind show stopper is truly a piece popular of wearable art.
Please feel free to ask questions. All items come from a smoke-free environment.
I try to take pictures from different angles to show the different color and texture combinations. Computer monitors may show colors differently.
