1897 Antique Book: Published by Verlag Von Karl J. Trubner. Believed to be First Edition Found Online: Arthur Macdonell's book Vedic Mythology was initially published in 1897... Macdonell was a well-known Sanskrit scholar born in India in 1854. His work on translating and deciphering several Sanskrit texts were at the forefront of Vedic understanding of the time. This scarce 125 year old book has some damage on the outside, pages inside are in overall good condition: • Cover: damage (appears to be critter holes in cloth) with marks & fading (see pictures) • Spine: marks/fading & heavy wear/tearing at ends. Sticker with title has heavy wear & fading • Pages: some age marks, folded corners & small tears. Most pages are clean. Critter holes on several pages in the front and back but it does not impact the text except a very small hole in last page • Edges: pretty decorative edges.
