This is a wonderful RARE antique Black Forest carved wooden inkwell & pen rest with a green man face on the front & a large well that would have housed a glass or ceramic ink pot - it could house a glass vase or pens/pencils now... Carving all around the edge - even the bun feet are carved!

The skill of the carver is amazing.
Black Forest carvings were sold in the Victorian/Edwardian period as souvenirs for the wealthy tourists, doing the 'Grand Tour' of Europe & are popular highly collectable today.

I have a matching letter box to be listed.

Weight: 810g before packing

Condition: Very good antique condition. No chips or splits to the wood. Nice patina.
