Description
This charming domestic scene was painted by Jane Clifford. It is of a child's bedroom, replete with toys, slippers and sun bonnet on the bedpost. It is done in a style between post impressionist work and naive painting. It reminds me greatly of VanGogh's “Bedroom at Arles”. There is no concern for proportion or perspective...The rich dance of colors of the objects throughout the room create a very happy and playful scene; Like Storybook Art.
CONDITION of painting is excellent...maybe a soft surface clean with damp/dry sponge might brighten it more, but it stands alone. The back of the board shows wear and some staining...and the graphics rather date the piece to the 60's.
